DISTANT VISTA : RULES

In this section you will find details of the Character creation and Alien race creation rules, the DV combat system, details on healing, damage and armour, and most importantly the BIG 10 - the list of what will not be allowed as character types within DV under any circumstances.

SYSTEM NOTES

The system for Distant Vista is as simple as possible, and is designed for ‘heroic’ combat. In the movies, we see the hero kick open the door, and gun down 4 mooks before they can get a shot off. In LRP, the same hero kicks open the door, gets out a single damage call, then takes cover behind a table for the next 5 minutes. The DV combat system is specifically designed to avoid this. The characters are heroes, and therefore have a major advantage over the normal ‘grunts’ kicking around space. However, the real bad guys are likely to have just as much ‘luck’ on their side as the characters.

Broken down, the combat system entails one of three actions –either Ranged, Melee or Brawl combat.  Attacks never ‘miss’ (unless the attacker wants them too, for either in-game or roleplaying reasons.). However, some of the ‘specials’ points can allow the defender to avoid the damage. This means a hero can take on several mooks without being beaten into the ground.
