HOUSE RULES

Ok. the following few paragraphs detail the code of conduct for all players, Crew and the ref on Distant Vista (and any other Angry Moose game). Most are common sense, but to avoid any problems it's better if they are written down.  After the code of conduct comes the physical ground rules of Angry Moose games. The rules are there for safety, to ensure our insurance continues to cover us and to make sure everyone has a good time. Breaches of these will not be tolerated....

EXPECTATIONS.

Ok. I hate to have to do this, but I thought a few words on what the players can expect, and conversely, what I expect from the players, might save a whole lot of heartache later.

i)          PLAYER EXPECTATIONS,

You can expect me to run the game, and to do my best to make it enjoyable for all. I will provide information regarding the universe and your place in it, what you have been doing between games and I will answer any reasonable questions you have before during or after a game. The information may take the form of a written or verbal brief or series of answers. It is highly unlikely that everyone will get an individually written brief for each game, so please don’t expect it. You can expect me to do my level best to ref the game fairly, safely and within the guidelines in this book. I will flyer everybody twice for each game. I won’t pester you if you choose not to come on a game. If you say you aren’t coming, fine. No problem, I don’t need excuses or reasons, your lives are your own.

ii)          CREW EXPECTATIONS.

You can expect information on what you’re doing and what you’ll need for the game. In terms of props/costume required, I’ll let you know at least 2 weeks before the game (unless something comes up unexpectedly). Your info on what’s going on will be either verbal or written and may come either before the game (for bigger parts), or on the day (for monsters/small parts). You can expect me to split the parts as evenly as I can. I will listen to any ideas, but please understand if I am busy and can’t just now. I will not shout out of character at anyone for making a mistake to do with the plot/characters etc. I will shout about aberrant behavior.

iii)      REF EXPECTATIONS.

I expect Players, Crew and anybody else involved in DV to be polite and reasonable where the rest of the ‘cast’ are concerned. I don’t need anybody yelling at me, telling me it’s not fair or whining about stuff beyond my control. I expect everyone to pay attention to ref calls, safety calls and site rules. If you ask me for a Ref Call, it should be taken in good grace. If you disagree, then reasonably state why. The ref’s word is final. I expect people to pay for the game before the game starts. I expect any relevant character actions to be sent to me by the requested date, or else I expect people to accept that they don’t get a brief/to do anything between games. If you hate the game, I expect you not to come again –Please don’t throw money away, stress out yourself and me by ‘sticking at it’ if you think it sucks. Suggestions and ideas are welcome. If you’re certain you can do constructive criticism then go for it, but if I think it’s just whining or worse, I will ignore you.

I ‘d like people to have fun. That includes me.

I expect to be able to have a life outside this game. (fat chance…;-)

THE RULES

1) NO UNLAWFUL SUBSTANCES ON SITE. This is standard TTSNB policy, to protect you, me and everyone else. We catch you doing something not alcohol, fags  caffeine or YOUR prescription, then you are off site and WILL be reported to the cops. There will be NO exceptions.

2) DON’T GET HAMMERED. Anybody the ref deems to be too inebriated to be safe, or who is acting in a dangerous manner and refuses to stop will be sent to bed. If they refuse, they will be kicked out.  Repeat offenders will not be welcome at future games.

3) Please respect other people in the game. This means no violent physical contact. This means no contact at all if the person, out of character, requests you to stop it. If someone out of game wants to be left alone, please respect this wish. If you want to take a breather from what’s going on, just make the time out sign and go and sit somewhere quiet.

4) Respect the ref. If you ask me for a ref call, I’ll do my best to answer it. Please be patient. There is only me, so I may well be in great demand. Please obey ref calls without arguing. If you need clarification, ask for it.

5) MAN DOWN is an out of game call, meaning someone has been hurt for real. The game will stop and the nearest first aider will move to assist the injured parrty. Please don't use 'Man Down' in game

Thanks for listening. ;-)
