ALIENS

“ I mean, Aliens…it just seems so…Science Fiction..”

“We live on a space-ship dear…” –Wash and Zoe- Firefly.

Whilst over 100 sentient races have been recorded by the various starfaring species, only 15 are encountered often enough to warrant inclusion in this list. The 15 Species listed here are by no means the only playable species, but are by far the best known, and have had the most effect on the way the current universe is. Of course, the two obvious exceptions are the Gi’han and the Kren. The Gi’han are not included because they are extinct. Utterly extinct. Nothing of their culture or history still exists, Pax Humanis having gone to great lengths to bury them in the Past. The Kren still exist, and periodically turn up, a slave race with no master. They don’t get an inclusion on this list because they are no longer a ‘race’ so much as a disparate group of individuals, and Pax Humanis tend to hunt them down if they appear in groups larger than ...well, one really. However, you can still play one, if you so wish. Contact the ref if you want.

Most of what is written in a given descriptive passage is both true(ish) and fairly widely known. Obviously, the various races have a number of secrets which no outsider has access to. The only exception to this is the brief history of the race – in most cases, this will not be widely known by anyone except the race themselves and a few scholars.

RACES

Sapiens – Humans who all belong to PAX HUMANIS – an avowedly atheist military hegemony seeking to bring a single order to the sentient universe.

Hominids –Humans living outside PAX HUMANIS. Pretty varied bunch.

Davinar – Silicon based Humanoids with high technological base and computer interface.

Ghul – Carrion eating drifters who feed on the dead of other sentient races and worship death as a god.

Chandron (Chandra)- Extremely resilient beings, who evolved on the harshest planetary system in the universe. Very hard to kill.

S’la – Interstellar navigators and travelers. Have the unique ability to open fold-space gates and navigate within the hell-hole that is fold-space.

Fayl – Attractive and charming beings who feed on the energy of heightened emotions because they were the second sentient species on their home-world. Found frequently in the ‘entertainments’ industry.

Tyrie – beings made of pure energy. Denied physical contact, they have a flair for language and culture. They are also damn near immortal, and can open thread space gates, allowing them to travel space without a ship.

Buke.-  Race of Saurians who exist in a semi-feudal culture, similar to the samurai of ancient earth.

Kalish – leathery skinned master hunters and assassins whose unusual body chemistry allows them to become nearly invisible.

Voights- Semi aquatic species, who hold a vast intergalactic trading empire and own key mineral rights to hundreds of inhabited worlds.

Marken – Small, furry and utterly pacifistic. And probably the most gifted scientists and researchers in the universe.

Jakthund – Humanoids with a canine appearance. Exceptionally war-like, most of the race being employed as mercenaries when not attempting to raid or conquer other planets.

Desonne-eta – individuals made up of a gestalt hive mind of millions of tiny creatures. Able to manipulate matter at an almost cellular level.

Galtors Beings of demonic visage ,massive strength and large appetites. Have a huge love for humanity and human culture from the 20/21st century

TECH LEVELS

Each race, in addition to the descriptive section, also has a ‘tech level’ rating. This is a number between 1 and 6, which denotes how technologically advanced the race is.

Below 3 is unusual, as it denotes the species has not developed space travel on it’s own. It should be noted that this is the rating for the species as a whole, and some individuals will have a great deal more technical knowledge, and some will be utterly foxed by the simplest VCR.
