Ron Kemp and his Egli Vincent He was chairman of the Chiltern Classic club John Boylan and Griff.at Brighton. I think it was for the Pioneer Run.
John was tragically killed in an accident caused by the speed bumps placed at the end of the dual carriageway on a curve just before Amersham. He was one of lifes really nice people. A fun guy.

Queuing for the ferry
That's us at the head of the queue. Jim Fowler is wearing the yellow leathers. Jim and the bloke on his left had Thruxtons, what a great sound they made. I can't remember the other blokes name. That might be Barry Tomlin's orange R90s next to the wall.

I had taken a ride just wandering around the back lanes and found Barry Tomlin by the stream at Sulby Glen cleaning his bike, then Adrian arrived and I think a few more arrived later, so much for Barry's quiet time.
  Chiltern crowd at The Bungalow.
Bert Jefferies in braces, famous for his bike shop in Gt. Missenden, Barry Tomlin with hand over his face, Steve Allen in dark glasses at the back and Adrian in shorts laying on his stomach, the guy with the beard had a Vincent 1000 but I can't remember his name or the others there.

Steve Allen I had a ride out down the small roads of the Island. I think this is Tholt-Y-Will   Would this be allowed now. I must say he looked really happy and comfortable when I saw them on the road.

Mike Hailwood in front. I believe the riders sometimes scrape their helmets along that wall. Mike Hailwood 250cc race at the Gooseneck Mike Hailwood at the Bungalow Male, Female, wig or real?
The Bungalow. The sound of the bikes accelerating away into the distance was wonderful 26th Milestone.
Can you imagine going up there as fast as you can in fog and mist? Track knowledge was tested to the limit then.
Can't remember his name. Quite a character Jim Fowler and his Thruxton, just look at those clip-ons. Steve Allen tending his Triumph Bonnie getting ready for our ride round the Island.

    MCC speed Trials at Silverstone

The MCC speed trials were really good. They were held on a Thursday in October or November so the weather was usually cold and unpredictable. The wide variety of bikes that were run was amazing. One that comes to mind was a Panther outfit like the one above it was painted with whit emulsion and had the largest open exhaust ever seen. In fact it was being used as a bin for fag packets etc. I'll add some more pictures of bikes later.
