AIMS OF THESE PAGES
Whilst working on my family tree I have have found photographs and census entries that I need help identifying. So I have set up these pages to encourage the exchange of information between Coombs family members.
This all started for me in 1991 when I was given a hand written family tree that had been completed by a first cousin living in Canada.
I looked up my dad's birthplace in the 1891 census and found three families of Coombs in the same road. I then looked up the IGI 1881 census name search and found another two Coombs families in the next road. These details are in the 1881 &1891 Census'.
I was already hooked on genealogy but this discovery added impetus to me collecting Coombs family details from the South East London area in the hope that they will match up sometime later.
I have also found Coombs families in the 1851 Census information
I especially need some help with finding William Coombs - Rope Maker, my great, great grandfather. Is he the William mentioned below?
If you compare the family of William and Susan of 59, Ann Street with William and Louisa's family of Robert Street in the IGI section you will see that the families are almost identical except the wives names are different.
Are these the same family? Louisa may have died and William remarried.
I have also included some Photographs that I would be grateful for some help with identifying and tracing.
24th August 1997, I have added the complete list of Coombs accumulated so far. List of Births, Deaths and Marriages I have given the certificate and film reference numbers where applicable. I'm sorry for the mess but it didn't transfer to my homepage as it left my computer. I hope to put it right at a later date. If you need clarification of anything, please e-mail me.
I have been getting enquiries asking if there is any connections with my family, in the main there isn't but I thought these e-mails might be useful to others researching the Coombs/ Coombes name, so I have posted them on a separate page E- Mail contributions
