There is a small occasional folk gig in Riseley, North Bedfordshire as a fundraiser for a local group on Saturday June 23rd.

Tom McConville Tom has for many years been regarded as the top fiddle player in the country. Styles and techniques learned in the company of the masters Sean McGuire, Stephane Grapelli and Bluegrass legend Byron Berline, give Tom an endless variety of interpretations to his songs and tunes. His live performance combines a rollercoaster of musical delights from fast, rhythmic dance tunes through beautiful slow airs and of course, great singing; - all presented with his inimitable sense of humour and style.

Renowned for his musical accompaniments, Tom has played on literally hundreds of albums. The list includes: Barbara Dickson, Richard Thompson, Allan Taylor and Lindisfarne. Tom began his career in the ever-vibrant folk scene of Tyneside. His work with a local band gave the opportunity to support his hero Sean McGuire and many other top names including The Fureys, De Dannan, John Doonan, Boys of the Lough and even a lock-in with the Dubliners. Tom went on to work in a duo with Bob Fox, topped the Cambridge Folk Festival with Kieron Halpin and shared stages with Mark O'Connor, Paul Brady, The Chieftains and many more.

Sunday June 17th, Redbourn Folk & Blues Day 2012


This event will be located on Redbourn Common, postcode AL3 7NG, around the Cricket Club. Music will be from 2 to 6 pm and will be free. Licenced Bar/Food & facilities of the Cricket Club in Partnership with The Cricketers PH.

This event is being run with and sponsored by St Albans Arts Council (Music in the Parks) and is part of the St Albans Festival 2012 see the festival Website. Also see Lemonrock and St Albans Music in the Parks

Andy Clarke & Steve Tyler From Totnes folk club comes a traditional English folk singer.

Andy - guitar, bouzouki & vocals
"An excellent singer and instrumentalist who performs with the skill and taste of a master craftsman." - Pete Coe.

Steve - hurdy gurdy/cittern player is one of the country's leading Early Music specialists, whose hurdy gurdy playing has brought him a Europe-wide reputation. Steve is a member of Daughter of Elvin and of Misericordia.

Born in Hertfordshire, Lin and Paul grew up on opposite sides of the Atlantic. They have been playing together for over 12 years, and their performances include an eclectic blend of Trad and modern English Folk as well as Country, Old-Time and Americana. Playing a variety of instruments, they use alternative tunings and rich harmonies to create their own enjoyable Transatlantic Sessions.
