Some people love it with a passion. Some people hate it with a passion. This annual event
has been on our TV screens since the 50's. I am of the opinion that it's OK to watch and
even possibly enjoy Eurovision as long as you don't take it too seriously.
That said, I am now going to engage sad anorak mode and list the runners and riders of this
mammouth event over the past few years. Here is the list of the winners of each contest,
along with the United Kingdom entry for that year.

The UK suffered the NIL POINT embarrasment in 2003 when Jemini bottomed out with
Cry Baby. Many blame the result on the Iraq war backlash. Others simply lay the blame
with the awful off-key performance.
The UK has had more 2nd placed entries than any other country. 15 in total.
The UK enjoys automatic entry to each years competition because it is one of the
big 4, along with France, Germany and Spain.
The last UK entry to go to number 1 in the UK charts was Gina G with "Ooh Ahh... Just
A Little Bit" in 1996. The last before that was Bucks Fizz with "Making Your Mind Up" in 1981.
The UK was disqualified from the first contest in 1956 because it registered after the
deadline.
