Costa Verde - Cuba

Site Background

On the North coast (Atlantic) of eastern Cuba.

Facilities

Shore based diving, no live aboards. The hotels in this area have scuba diving as an inclusive option. However, it was possible to pay for a safari if enough people were interested. The safari included two boat dives on the further afield sites. cost $30 per dive, all equipment provided.

Water temperature here was around 25 Celcius.

Depths & Features

Various depths. Morning dives were around 35m, afternoon dives around 20m. They also did beginers (try) dives, at around 6m in the afternoon.

There are 21 dives sites available from Costa Verde, however i only dived 3. The Grand Canyon site was good, a deep dive to about 32m, swimming through a cravass, but the interesting fish life was mainly found in 8m or less.

Visibility

The visibility was excellent on my trip here. Most dives had visibility of over 25m.

Costs

Diving was included in our hotel costs, but dives with full equipment cost around $30 per dive.
