An original 1920 share certificate ![]() Issued by the club on November 4th and signed by directors Fred Mitchell and Joseph Barlow, together with the then-Secretary-Manager, Ambrose Langley. Despite this being numbered 1253, these items seem to be pretty rare these days. (An exact same share certificate as this appears on page 62 of '100 Years All That's Worth Knowing: Facts & Photos')

Glossoid Co., for The Cherry Tree Hotel, Huddersfield
Produced by a London company, these matchbox holders were 3-sided and showed the team line-up of that season together with all of the league fixtures. Note the old system of playing a team twice, home and away on consecutive weekends. AND ... a game on Christmas Day; now there's a novelty! These are EXTREMELY hard to find, and when they DO appear, they are VERY expensive!

1920-21 Season Ticket
Now here's a REALLY rare item, which is almost certainly unique; a season ticket to the Town Directors' Box during season 1920-21, belonging to Mrs Dick Parker. Parker was the club's longest serving director, joining the board in 1920 and serving until his death in 1974. At that time he was also the longest-serving director in the entire Football League, and he continued to attend matches right up to the last. The ticket is a small leather-bound booklet with details of the owner, the current directors and fixture lists for both 1st and 2nd team games.

Songsheet, c1922
Shown in much-reduced form, this songsheet was probably produced in the Cup-run of 1922 since it features the players who made their most famous appearances in that period. Inside there are two pages of sheet music and the back features the song itself, including the chorus ... "Oh! it's our night out again to-night, Oh! it's our night out again to-night, And you can bet, we'll make things hum, Won't we have a beano, eh-by-gum, For we'll all be sporting Blue and White And we'll all be shouting with delight Bravo Town - You'll want some taking down. Oh! it's our night out again to-night." Quality!

The Football and Sports Favourite magazine |
|
Volume 7 number 266 issued on 3rd October, 1925. It features six players of the then-Champions of the Football League horsing around, namely Albert Smith sitting on Tommy Wilson, Charlie Wilson on Clem Stephenson and Sam Wadsworth on Billy Watson. Very rare and very nice, the original item has damage to both top and bottom left corners, but I have carefully rebuilt it using a digital software package. You wouldn't have been able to tell if I hadn't mentioned it, now would you?

Volume 9 number 319 issued on 16th October, 1926. It features Alec 'Skinner' Jackson, Town's flying winger who was the scourge of many a First Division full-back and beyond. Inside the magazine was an article 'Globe-Trotting For Goals' in which Jackson talked about his football experiences in other parts of the world, namely Scotland and America before eventually signing for Town. He also relates the countries he had toured with his league clubs, such as Wales, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Switzerland. Special mention is made of one interesting game in America, a cup replay against Newark, which Jackson's team won 6-0, with Alec and brother George at centre-forward sharing all six goals between them!

Anonymous 'In Memoriam' card, c1920s
I really know nothing about this, but would guess that it was produced by a rival team in order to celebrate Town's defeat in a recent Cup game; take your pick of opponents!

London Midland & Scottish Railway Handbill, 27th February, 1932
Now, perhaps this item might not mean much to a lot of visitors to this site, but those who know their Town history will recognise the game - Town vs Arsenal, F. A. Cup Round 6 - as being the one which drew Town's biggest ever 'home' attendance of 67,037. How interesting to get hold of a railway handbill from London for that very game. And even better - it cost me a pittance because I don't think that any other bidders recognised its significance!

Boothy Face Mask
Scary, or what?? This face mask was given away free with the last programme of the 2008-09 Centenary Season, to mark Andy Booth's last ever home appearance for the Town. Fittingly, the man scored the first goal in the 2-2 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion, with a trademark far-post header. |
