It's
been a really lean time this last four or five weeks trying to find
new cigarette and trade cards and, as a result, I have very little
to add here. Even the card fairs and catalogues are not throwing up
anything new and eBay has only the usual cheap or common cards. So
I have continued to expand sideways by buying postcards, press
photos and other more unusual items. The latest of these is a
cartoon cut from the pages of 'The Boys' Realm' in 1924, which
previews a game at Leeds Road against Aston Villa, a matter of weeks
before Town were to claim the League Title for the very first time.
I have
also bought several more Turton cards, including a couple of team
photographs and autographed studio portraits of George Richardson
and Fred Bullock, together with unsigned ones of David Steele and
Alec Jackson. As I already had copies of these cards up on the
website, you won't notice a change there!
New
press photographs include one of Alec Jackson at Leeds Road standing
arms folded with an extremely cheeky grin on his face. It's a lovely
postcard-sized item and was well worth the price.
And so
perhaps now is a good time to make an appeal. I am sure that some
people who visit this site or who are reading this page now, will
have at least one card that is not shown here; please get in touch -
my email address is scattered around the site - and we can talk
terms. I have a whole page of WANTED
items, although I'm not sure just exactly how many of the cards
listed there ever existed! Now is YOUR chance to contribute to the
site; I will credit you if wish or you can remain anonymous.
Finally, I still
have one or two books left, so if you're looking for a birthday
present for that Town fan in your life, email me through the
MY BOOK
page and I'll sort one out for you; this way I get all of the cash
instead of losing out to the club or eBay.
Until the next update, enjoy the site,
buy the book, and keep looking for those
missing cards!
Oh, and if you're a
first-time visitor, please
sign my
guestbook!
