Knapwell, 10 miles west of Cambridge, lies on an unclassified road linking the A14 and the A428. About 40 dwellings line the High Street and - well, that's about it.
Some rush-hour commuters try to escape the A14 or the A428 by cutting through the village only to exchange one frantic road for another. Most of the day, Knapwell gives the impression of sleeping peacefully - or at least working unhurriedly - and that's what we like. With ample attractions of the city and countryside close by, Knapwell is a place to come home to. This website is for the people of Knapwell, for exiles from Knapwell, and for anyone else interested in one of Cambridgeshire's smallest villages.
Knapwell's nearest neighbours are Elsworth, Boxworth and Conington. You need the A14 to get to Lolworth, Bar Hill, and Dry Drayton. Papworth, Madingley and Hilton complete the collection of villages within the A14-A428-A1198 triangle. These other villages and their roads are left off the map to keep it simple. The land within the triangle rolls pleasantly (for Cambridgeshire) and is used mainly for growing grain crops. A few small industrial estates are dotted unobtrusively around the area.
