Will of James Beswick of Nottingham 1678

 

In the name of God Amen. I James Bestwick of the towne and County of  the Towne  of Nottingham being of sound and perfect minde & memory praise be there for given to Almighty God do make & ordaine this my present last will and testament in manner and forme following (that is to say) first & principally I recommend my soule into the hands of Almighty God hoping through the merits death and passion of my saviour Jesus Christ to have full and free pardon & forgiveness of all my sins and to inherit everlasting life & my body I commit to the earth to be decently buried at the disposition of my executors hereafter named: And touching the disposition of all such temporal estate as it pleaseth Almighty God to bestow upon me I give and dispose thereof as followeth.

First I will that my debts & funeral charges shall be paid & discharged.

Item I give and bequeath unto Mrs E……… of Ripley the sum of forty shillings

Item I give and bequeath unto Mrs Mary Horne the summe of one pound ten shillings

Item I give and bequeath unto Mrs Elizabeth Hodges the summe of five pounds to buy her a …………..

Item I give and bequeath unto John Wilson servant to Lady Valentia the summe of one pound to buy him a ring

Item I give and bequeath unto William Johnson the summe of five shillings

Item I give and bequeath unto Mary servant to Mrs Hodges the summe of ten shillings

Item I give and bequeath unto Mr George Lankforde five shillings to buy him a peare of gloves

Item I give and bequeath unto my loving brother Ralph Wood all my wearing clothes

Item I give and bequeath unto Mr John ………… of Ripley the summe of twenty shillings

Item I give and bequeath unto Margaret Stanley widow the sum of ten shillings

Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Howett the summe of tenn shillings

Item I give and bequeath unto Mary Wright the sume of one pound five shillings

Item I give and bequeath unto ……….. Parker the sume of twenty shillings

Item I give and bequeath unto John Barker the sume of five shillings

Item I give and bequeath unto the ……. pore of the parish the sum of twenty shillings

 

All the rest & residue of my personal Estates Goods Chattels whatsoever I do give & bequeath unto my loving brothers Ralph Wood….. & William Stafford full & sole executors of this my last will and testament & I do hereby revoke disannul and make void all former wills & testaments by me herefore made in witness whereof I the said James Bestwick do hereunto set my hand & seal the second day of December in the thirtieth year of the Reign of our Sovrigne Lord King Charles the Second Over England & Anno Domini 1678
