Northenden Players can trace their origins back to 1942 when a group of young persons in Northenden founded The Younger Generation and performed their first production - ‘The Rising Generation” by Wyn Weaver and Laura Leycester - on March 23rd. By the end of the 1940’s the group had renamed themselves Northenden Players. The early history has been researched and recorded in a booklet by John Wheatley, a past chairman - “the Story of the Northenden Players - The First Twenty Years (1942 - 1962)” In December 2007, after 50 years at Boat Lane the Players are relocating to the Northenden Methodist Church Hall in Victoria Road, Northenden.
