NOTTINGHAMSHIRE INDUSTRIAL ARCHAEOLOGY SOCIETY
Our Winter 2008-2009 programme of lectures is now available
NIAS was formed in 1976 by a group of enthusiasts who felt
that a county with a variety and abundance of industrial sites
needed a body to encourage interest in and further the aims of
industrial archaeology. It is neither possible nor desirable to
retain everything of historical interest, and a surfeit of
industrial retention merely waters down the impact of
well-considered preservation. However, it is vital to record
everything possible before it is altered or destroyed.
NIAS is a member of the Nottinghamshire Local
History Association, the East Midlands
Industrial Archaeology Conference and the Association for
Industrial Archaeology.
New Members are always welcome at our meetings. We have
a Winter Programme of lectures and
a Summer Programme of day and
evening visits.
