The National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is a challenge to write 50,000 words of fiction during the month of November.

My 2006 story was going to be about a man who allies with an army of ogres to seek revenge against a tyrannical ruler.
But it never got very far. Many things intruded, especially a nasty dose of flu which then caused a backlog of work. (Those are my excuses, anyway. Not laziness, no.)
So all that exists is 10,000 words that barely saw the story under way.
Anyone foolish enough to want to read the small amount that actually got written can click here.
Just for completeness, our hero Loggat was going to be enslaved. He then escapes and joins an ogre warband intent on sacking Stadda Spurrye. He eventually finds his son alive, and turns against the ogres as well as the tyrant.

The counter above will keep track of my progress. It will update every time I upload new text to the NaNoWriMo site, which will probably be every few days.
Blue = what I’ve written
Grey = the pace I need to keep up
As some people already know, my “real” writing effort is going towards a murder mystery set in a fantasy world. My original ideas there didn’t work, so I’m beginning to think of a different murder.
Meanwhile, I’ll be working out the background of the fantasy world as my entry for NaNo ’07. While not a story, it counts as fiction.
It won’t be interesting to anyone but me. But if you’re a glutton for punishment, click here to see what I’ve scribbled.
