Better Driving Course

Structure of the Course...

Each course consists of five classroom sessions of two hours each covering various aspects of driving as detailed in the Content and Syllabus section.

On a Sunday towards the end of the course there is the opportunity to be a passenger in a Police Traffic Patrol car for a demonstration drive given by an officer holding a Grade 1 Advanced Driving Certificate. This demonstration, with a commentary by the driver describing what is being done and why, is an excellent way to see all the theory being put into practice. It also provides the basis for a valuable discussion for the final classroom session!

Included in the course is the offer to have your own driving observed, in your own vehicle, by an independent trained observer from Worthing Advanced Motorists. This observation lasts about 90 minutes (those under 26 yr have two sessions) and covers a wide range of different road conditions. Those who wish to improve their practical skills still further can go on to prepare for the IAM Advanced Driving Test, details of which will be given at the end of the course.

Finally, if there is sufficient interest, there will be a practical session on Skid Control at the skid-pan at Goodwood at an additional cost.
