Police Demonstration Drive...

All participants on the course have the opportunity to be a passenger in a Police Traffic Car driven by an officer holding the Class 1 Advanced Driving Certificate considered to be possibly the highest driving qualification available.

The three passengers in each car change positions at intervals to enable all to have the opportunity to see things from the front passenger seat. The driver will give a commentary whilst driving to explain what is being observed and what is being looked for, what is being done and why, and relating it to what has been seen.

The drive, lasting one hour, is intended to show how the normal road driver should drive. The emphasis is on good observation, giving plenty of time to react, judging appropriate speeds for hazards and compliance with traffic law. All legal speed limits will be observed. The drive is not intended to show how police high speed driving is done even though the system of car control would still apply.
