About us…

Worthing Advanced Motorists is in its 25th year of promoting better driving skills for motorists in Worthing and the surrounding area. We do this in a variety of ways, principally:

  • Classroom-based Better Driving Courses for the general public
  • One-to-one guidance for road users wanting to improve their driving skills to the standard set by the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM)
  • A varied programme of meetings throughout the year
  • Talks, videos, practical demonstrations

The majority of members are also members of the IAM, actively supporting the group in its objects above and socially. Associates are welcomed into the group to prepare for the IAM Advanced Test.

The group is a registered charity and all its Observers are trained volunteers providing their services without charge.

If you are a motorcyclist, click here for information about the dedicated group that we set up in 1989, known as West Sussex Advanced Motorcyclists.

About the IAM…

The Institute of Advanced Motorists was set up in 1956 to promote road safety and to improve the standards of driving. Its most well-known activity is the provision of the Advanced Test for car drivers, motorcyclists and commercial and public service vehicle drivers.
