The History of the Long Eaton Silver Prize Band

The Long Eaton Silver Prize band were among the twenty four bands to contest the first annual May Championship contest at Belle Vue, Manchester in 1922. As now, the band membership  comprised mainly of players living within a few miles of Long Eaton. Unusually for the band, a professional conductor was employed for the contest, W. Halliwell (of Black Dyke fame).
