Depending on which ferry you wish to take, there are ferries from Aberdeen, Scrabster near Thurso, or Gills Bay near Thurso. There is also a passenger ferry from John O' Groats. On most of these routes, there are a number of crossings each day. By Air. Most major UK airports have links to Glasgow, Inverness, Aberdeen and Wick, with connecting flights to Kirkwall. By Train. There are train connections to Inverness, Thurso, Wick and Aberdeen, and then a short 'bus or taxi ride will take you to the ferry or airport of your choice.
