Our modern, four berth caravan was sited in late 2005, replacing a previous one. It is situated in rolling farmland, on a working farm, some 3 miles from the country village of Dounby, where there is a well stocked shop, fuel station, post office, hairdresser, community centre, and medical  centre. There is also a hotel which caters for diners. Two lochside hotels within four miles of Dounby also cater for diners. One nestles beside Harray Loch, a mile or so out of Dounby, and another on the shores of Boardhouse Loch.

The caravan is central to Orkneys main trout fishing lochs, and is close to The Loons RSPB nature reserve, and the Loch of Isbister. Part of the RNAS Twatt airbase is on our farm; you can see the watch tower, old cinema and other buildings.

The Cinema at the RNAS Airbase at Bryameadow, known in wartime as HMS Tern

A ten minute drive will take you to the "bird city" of Marwick Head, as featured in February 2006 on BBC2 with Bill Oddie.

The famous Neolithic sites of Skara Brae, The Ring of Brodgar and Maeshowe are within a twenty minute drive.

Extensive, sandy beaches, rock pools and spectacular cliff scenery are local.

We are only 9 miles from the attractive ferry port of Stromness, which has a greater variety of shops and other amenities. Kirkwall, the administrative centre of Orkney, is but a 30 minute car journey away, and has a large supermarket, and a diverse selection of shops, a museum, restaurants, takeaways, bars, chemists, hospital, cinema, etc. Ferries sail daily from Kirkwall to the northern isles of Orkney.

The accommodation comprises a double bedroom, with wardrobe and storage cupboards, with an electric heater.
