Gents,

Although no encouragement should be needed I have detailed below the Tour ’01 details in the hope of ‘whipping’ you all into a Tour frenzy……

As a refresher here is some Tour History…

Enzo Mauro Vs Stanton

8-0-44-6

Neville Harrington Vs Stanton             Ian Wickes Vs Dudley Ramblers CC

87 runs                                                 83 runs

2001

Saturday Vs Stanton CC

Sunday Vs Charlbury CC

In my influential and, dare I say, educated position I recommend we only field our reserve team for the Stanton match which will ensure our first teamers are fit and eager to play Charlbury (who will be strong again I suspect).  This obviously means we need to get a first team together by August as the reserve team are currently available and have already booked their rooms in the pub.

Accommodation

More History….

1998 Oxford House: The ideal base for a Cricket Tour (Pub with Beds)

1.      Rooms that fit between 2 and 10 people (depending on the quantity of Z-beds available)

2.      A bar that shuts only when people ran out of capacity for booze

3.      The nicest Host/Hostess you could wish to meet

4.      The dogs of a breakfast (large & not greasy)

5.      A flight of stairs Sir Edmond Hilary would have been proud to conquer

6.      A pool table that sometimes became free….

7.      A dart board

8.      Easy going locals who suffered Cricketers on Tour

9.      Easy walk to more Pubs

1999 Oxford House: New Owners (Now Restaurant with Beds)

1.      Same rooms

2.      A bar that shut when the owners started getting ‘The Arse’

3.      Two Italian blokes who thought running a B&B would be easy

4.      A Semi-Full English breakfast that swam in grease

5.      Same stairs

6.      No Pool table

7.      No Dart board

8.      A Restaurant/Bistro that served nice food

2000 The Piggeries: Nice Building with Beds

1.      Nice rooms with no stairs (godsend when carrying cricket bag)

2.      No bar

3.      No social area (except patio)

4.      Slightly odd owners

5.      Nice Breakfast

6.      No Pool table

7.      No Dart board

8.      Hike to Pub along potential ankle breaking road (nearly Boomie twice)

2001 Horse & Groom: Pub with Beds

A new venue for Mulberry CC which has great potential

1.      All 7 rooms en-suite and booked to us

2.      Owner is Kiwi/Aussie with (hopefully) some tolerance to sick/noise

3.      All rooms are recently fully furnished (Oh Dear for above)

4.      £60 per room per night including breakfast

I advise all players to get there orders in quickly as there may be a limited number of Twins……..the rest will be getting cosy.

As a rule the players will get first shout, with better halves (for once) having to wait for the blokes to decide.

Additional Information

There a small contingent of people who are not satisfied with Cricket and seek the meagre excitement of Golf……all those who enjoy wearing flares and dodgy jumpers should contact Boomie who will decide if your handicap (if playing cricket for Mulberry wasn’t enough) is upto his exacting standards.

Maps to guide people to the tour accommodation will be available nearer the time but for those ‘eager beavers’ the local town is Upper Oddington.
