BSF TENNIS LEAGUE  -  by  Karen Edge (Mixed League Match Secretary)  -  15/08/2009

The final week’s tennis has now been played, well it has for most people! Unfortunately, due to the weather, there are still a few matches left to play, but all should be completed this week.

Holcombe Brook A are again the winners of the Mixed League, losing only one match all season. This week, half of Holcombe’s B team played, and the Holcombe ladies all played a starring role, winning all their sets convincingly. The second place spot has been fought over by Markland Hill A and Hawkshaw A, with Hawkshaw taking the spot, even though they still have one match to play.

Holcombe Brook B have been top of the Second Division most of the season, but Lostock B take the winning spot at the final hurdle, by one point. Markland Hill B face relegation after only winning one match this season.

Division Three is the place where most of the matches are yet to be played, however David Lloyd (Bolton) B have taken the top spot, with Lostock C taking second place. The order of the bottom three places still not clear as it all depends on the outstanding matches.

Division Four is now complete with Hawkshaw C finishing top. This week they had a convincing win over Lostock D, losing only one set all evening. Second place goes to Holcombe Brook C who had a narrow victory over bottom place Hawkshaw D this week.

Bradshaw B top Division Five, with David Lloyd (Bolton) D taking second spot on games difference. Eagley A beat Holcombe Brook D this week, unfortunately, this wasn’t enough to keep them out of the relegation zone.

As Bradshaw B move out of Division Five, Bradshaw C prepare to take their place by winning Division Six this year, beating new team Ellesmere B this week. Ellesmere B are fighting for second place, but still have one match to play. If they win it, they could go second, however, it will depend on games difference.
