Welcome to Clydebank model boat club, sailing on the Forth
and Clyde canal at Bowling Harbour, Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire,
on the outskirts of Glasgow, Scotland, UK
Clydebank model boat club was formed by local enthusiasts
interested in promoting the hobby of building and sailing
radio control model boats among the local residents, and the
many ex shipyard workers in the Clydebank area. We would like
to invite anyone interested in radio control model boats from
the absolute beginner to the more experienced to pay our club
a visit at our weekly sail each Sunday between 1-30pm and
3-30pm, and during the summer months on Wednesday evenings
from 6.30pm until 8.00pm, weather permitting,all visitors
will be made welcome. Beginners new to the hobby are especially
welcome.
Formed in the shadows of the world-wide famous John Brown's
Clydebank shipyard (later Kvaerner) home of the three queens
(Queen Elizabeth, Queen Mary and the present Queen Elizabeth
2 (QE2).
Bowling was home to Scott & Sons; Shipbuilders and Repairers
from 1853 until 1979, building such vessels as Clyde puffers,
tugs, cargo ships, trawlers, barges, tankers,coasters and
many other types of sea going vessels.
Clydebank Model Boat Club sail amid the peace and tranquility
of the beautiful surroundings at Bowling Harbour in the part
of the canal next to Lock 38 with access to the River Clyde
which is only a stones throw away.
Our small friendly group of members and visitors sail a large
variety of different types of radio controlled model boats
including sailboats, tugs, submarines, naval warships, destroyers,
barges, fishing boats, yachts, Clyde puffers, and not forgetting
amongst others the canal narrow boats that frequently use
this part of the canal.
