| Bombers Memorabilia |
| The Romford Bombers had a huge
following and an active Supporters Club which, during the inaugural
season, was the fastest growing Speedway Supporters Club in the country.
Inevitably, with such enormous interest in the Club, a range of memorabilia was produced. The Bombers programme contained a price list (right) of some of the items that could be purchased from the Brooklands Speedway Shop, some of which survive today and are illustrated on this page. |

BADGES Two enamel lapel badges were produced by the Supporters Club. The first was issued in 1969 to Supporters Club members only and was about the size of a present-day 10p coin (right). The design was of the Bombers' RAF roundel with the outline of a speedway rider and the words "Romford Speedway SC" in gold. The badge had rings onto which year bars could be attached. The following year, a revised badge was issued (far right). This was put on general sale and was smaller than the original - about the size of a 1p coin. The RAF roundel again formed the basis of the design, the blue circle being slightly darker than on the earlier badge. The roundel is surmounted by a red helmet with silver wings and the words "Romford Speedway" appear in silver on the blue circle. |

| An embroidered blazer badge (above) was produced - no doubt strongly influenced by Maurice Morley, who traditionally sported a blazer when on duty at Brooklands! | As well as free paper car
stickers, a vinyl version was also produced in the shape of the Bombers'
roundel (above) |

Posters advertising the Bombers (left) were a familiar site in and around the Romford area. In an eye-catching orange and black, the posters featured the Exeter Falcons race jacket! Special versions were produced for the inaugural meeting against Crewe and the challenge match against the Young Czechoslovakia team, the latter featuring blue text instead of the usual red.
Such was the success of the first season that a 36 page booklet was produced (right). Entitled "The Brooklands Story", it documented the remarkable achievement of bringing Speedway to Brooklands and featured articles about the riders, a review of the season and statistics. |
