Hi, I'm Rob Howard... Welcome to my website!

During the Summer of 2003 I trekked across the Pyrenees Mountains via the High Level Route, fulfilling a 10 year ambition and raising some money for Macmillan Cancer Relief to boot. The route took me from Hendaye on the Atlantic coast to Banyuls-sur-Mer on the Mediterranean, passing through some of the most spectacular and deserted regions in all of Europe. The Haute Randonnée Pyrénéene (HRP) follows the Franco-Spanish border as closely as possible, right along the watershed of the Pyrenees. It's over 800km long, it includes a cumulative ascent of over 50,000m (that's a lot!) and it took me 9 weeks to complete.

At the time of my trek I used this website keep my supporters updated on my progress and to drum up support for my fundraising. Now, having successfully completed the challenge I have written up my diaries, added lots of photographs and provided a load of information about the Pyrenees and the HRP that will hopefully tempt you to visit the area, do some walking and help you to plan your trip. Who knows, you might even walk the HRP?!

I hope this becomes a useful, and well used, resource for would be trekkers. Enjoy it, and if you attempt the trek.... good luck!
