LOADING WINDOWS 98fe Full Version as upgrade from harddrive
Download and unzip the patch you need to a blank floppy:
win98 upgrade to full version (precopy2 from a win98a CD Rom) [1.287kb]
win98fe full to win98 upgrade (precopy2 from a 98upgrade CD Rom) [1,296kb]
Insert a wins boot disk with CD
support
Select START COMPUTER WITH CD-ROM
SUPPORT.
At a:\> type
A:\>c:\ enter then type
C:\>md win98 Enter then type
C:\>cd win98 Enter then type
C:\win98>Copy E:\win98 enter
then
Insert Floppy with the patch
C:\win98>Copy a:\
Enter Y to Overwrite
C:\PRECOPY2.CAB
C:\win98>Setup enter
(for upgrade only)
A. run setup, when the upgrade
asks for a previous version, put in your Win95 cd,
wins will look through that for a while,
and than tell you to put the Win98 cd back in.
B. If you have the Win95 cabs on your hard drive, point
to that folder.
C. You can check your 3.x or 95 install floppies.
For wins95 upgrade
1. Open Notepad, or type "EDIT" in DOS, type
some random characters,
save it as "Win.com_".
Put this file on your boot floppy.
2. Open Notepad, or type "EDIT" in DOS, type
some random characters,
save it as
"win386.exe". Put this file in the root folder of C: drive after you
format.
3. Alternatively, after you get the CDrom up and
running, you can remove the boot floppy
and replace it with the Windows
3.x install disk one. Win95 will find what it needs there.
