Background: Heckler & Koch's USP series has been at the forefront of the plastic-framed handgun market in terms of functional technology since its introduction. The USP was designed to compete with the enormously popular Glock in terms of both construction materials and pricing. The USP .45 Tactical was also a basic template for the SOCOM (Special Operations Command) pistol.

Overview: This standard Counter-Terrorist issued weapon is quite flexible in terms of overall use. It fires fast, it's decently powerful, accurate, and could be silenced. Unfortunately, the 12 round clips empties quickly and the silencer weakens the firepower of this weapon. For a backup weapon, the USP is near perfect for most Counter-Terrorists. Most CT's agree that they really don't need to buy another handgun. It carries more bullets than the Desert Eagle which is useful when facing multiple enemies or when you're spotted while sniping. It performs better than the Sig 228 without the expensive price tag.

User Performance: Because of its small clip, clean shots are a definite must to use this weapon effectively. Fire single shots at medium range to slow down your target so you can move out  for your retreat. At close range, rapid fire can be used but remember to keep the crosshair on your target. The silenced feature is a plus on stealth missions but should not be used unless needed because it weakens the gun and distorts its excellent accuracy.

Threat Assessment: Killing a USP user is somewhat difficult especially if the player is a veteran. The only drawback is the clip size. Use some maneuvers to force the opponent to empty his clip without being hit. Once that happens, engage the enemy with guns a blazing to prevent his escape. By the time he finished reloading, he should be dead unless you encounter another enemy.

Tips: At the beginning of the round, shoot one round and reload quickly. After the reload, buy some bullets and watch your reserve ammo turn from 48 to 59. This trick is particularly useful in the first round where you still got enough money to buy body armor. To instantly snap on the silencer, hit the secondary button and quickly switch weapons and switch back. This can also be done on the Colt M4A1 for instant stealth attacks.
