POTENTIAL BENEFITS OF QI GONG.
QI GONG is a series of controlled physical movements combined with specific breathing excercises developed and practised in china for many thousands of years. The regular practice of Qi Gong is designed to improve and maintain the general health of the practitioner.
The instruction and practice of Qi Gong in individuals provides structured system for the integrated development of mind and body through controlled movement and breathing. In particular it provides th techniques for co-ordination and balance.
The physical movements are performed in such a way to generate improvement of the cardiovascular system & overall fitness. The post exercise `feel good factor` is achieved without the physical and mental stress which is sometimes experienced in competitive sports.
Regular practice of Qi Gong will help improve neuromuscular co-ordination, fine motor control, and balance, whilst the simultaneous practice of the breathing contributes to the adoption of a relaxed state of body and mind.
The range of physical movements in Qi Gong and the manner in which they are preformed develop and maintain not only joint and muscle strength, but soft tissue flexibility. This is an important feature as the musculo-skeletal system is constantly changing, not only throughout life but also in response to use. In instances where there is a lack of joint use or adoption of poor posture, damage occurs and can lead to problems later in life, particularly old age.
The emphasis during instruction is on control of bodily movements, this ensures that each individual works within their own physical limits.
The mode of teaching and practice of Qi Gong is essentially non-competitive and development of each person is from their own respective starting point.
Qi Gong shows no discrimination against any individuals. The art promotes only the adoption of healthy living self-help exercise.
ABDOMINAL BREATHING
1, Breathing directly reflects the level of tension you carry in your body.
2, Its difficult to be tense and breathe abdominally at the same time.
3, Abdominal breathing increases oxygen supply to the brain and musculature.
4, Activates the Parasympathic nervous system, which promote a state of calmess and quiescence.
5, Promotes greater conectedness between mind, body and spirit.
6, More excretion of bodily toxins. Many toxics substances are excreted through the lungs ( it`s the largest de-toxing organ in the body).
7, Capillaries open when the body is in a state of deepened relaxation - capillary action.
