May 2004

Had my 3 monthly  check-up at the hospital,I've not lost any weight  and my breathing is still ok. Even though I continue to get weaker, the only part of me that is totally paralysed is my right thumb. The area I have noticed most change is in my neck and facial muscles,I now have to wear a soft neck collar to support the ever increasing weight of my massive brain!

I am glad that the better weather has finally arrived,it makes such a difference to wake up when the sun is shining and the birds are singing.

I have been doing a bit of public speaking, first Sharon and I gave a talk to Notts. MNDA about our experiences living with mnd.I cheated a bit though as I wrote my speech on the laptop and let Etriloquist do the talking.

Then I did my first R.A.I.D. session, talking about my experiences of being disabled to about 30 school children. Can you guess which one was most nerve racking?

As it gets to the end of May,I feel so good despite my physical problems.I look forward to each and every day, there is so much to experience and learn.

For every negative there is a positive,we all have the choice which world we live in.

June 2004

Not been feeling so good this month (must have been my comment last month about feeling good). I have had stomach problems and I've been off my food, which is not good because if I lose too much weight the hospital will want me to have a PEG feeding tube fitted. Been keeping my strength up with Fortijuce and hopefully the Dr. will have me back to my old self soon.

When you have MND you tend to blame everything on it and forget we can have other health problems as well. Q: What can be worse than MND? A: MND plus the runs!

Nothing much more to report really, I have started physiotherapy to try and keep what range of movement I have left. I have exercises to do morning and evening, I do them, honest.

July 2004

Well the good news is that MND has stopped attacking my neck and face, but the bad news is that it's started on my arms and legs again.

I have been in the foulest of moods for most of this month, mainly because I've been feeling sorry for myself and blanked everyone else out. I've been horrible to live with until the other day when Sharon gave me a kick up the arse(not literally, before you start screaming "Abuse!") and snapped me out of it.Now I'm back to my calm, serene, contented self again.

I have been doing quite a bit of work on the website and have added some new scripts. Also, with the help of my cousin Andrew,I have set up a network so that I can access the internet on my laptop as well.

I have added fish oil(omega 3,vit.E) and vitamin B complex to my regime,if nothing else,I will be the healthiest person with MND!

The guts are a bit better now but still not 100%,never found out what was causing it but the probiotics seem to help.

July has been a washout in every sense,so here's hoping for a better August.
