February 2007
You can officially call me grandad now, Kayla Robyn was born on the 10th of February. I have lots of photos and I've seen her twice, mother and baby are both doing well.
Ironically, John Bell(of John's Journey fame) passed away the same day so it was a bitter sweet day really, such is life.
I still suffer daily from anxiety,it has been suggest by one of the doctors that I see that I try listening to some relaxation cd's and also try a low dose of lorazepam, hopefully that will help.
Physically,my legs are still getting weaker and my movement is very limited now,but we still keep plodding on.
March 2007
My anxiety has got worse due to problems we're having with my care and the Continuing Care Department.
I've started taking the lorazepam now, which is in tablet form so I have to let it dissolve between my teeth and bottom lip, luckily it doesn't taste that bad.
We really don't need this worry right now, from the very start of knowing I had MND it's been one long fight to get what we need through red tape and legal bullshit.
I just wish that things would go right for us,for a change. If you believe in reincarnation, then I must have been very bad in a past life!
April 2007
It's been a year now since I came out of hospital after having my trache,it only seems like yesterday.
I feel very tired most of the time now,I go to bed every day in the late afternoon. It's a matter of comfort more than anything else, after sitting in my chair so long I start to ache.
My breathing seems to have got worse, for some time now I have been breathing just using my diaphragm as none of the other muscles are working. But recently my breaths seem to have become shorter and more rapid.
Anyway, enough of my moaning,at least the care problems seem to have been sorted out (I hope).
May 2007
After careful consideration (and the fact that i can no longer spend the time typing) sharon is going to follow on doing this journal on my behalf. The whole journal will still be my own words.
I have now been recieving care from a care company called Lakeside care for a couple of months as these are a new company, this is owned by one of my previous personal assistants who decided to open a care agency so people could get the correct care which they rightly deserve. It has been an eventful month as yet again i have had some breathing difficulties and this progressed in me having yet another chest infection.
June 2007
This month has been very eventful, i have been having problems with my electric wheelchair and sharon thought this was now too big and heavy to use as i no longer went out (my choice) so wheelchair services came to assess my needs and asked if i would like a manual wheelchair, they placed an order and a couple of weeks later the new chair arrived, i then had to wait a couple of more weeks for wheelchair services to come out and set up my new chair, i have had several problems since but this is all teething problems as i have to get used to the chair being different.
I have also had a new profiling bed but did have to wait for this and as you can appreciate everything has to be a wait, the bed is longer than a usual bed as i am 6ft 3in and found that my feet were curling due to the pressure of lying in bed and my feet pressing against the foot board. Yet again problem solved.
I am now taking to my bed very early in the day and this ranges from 1pm to 5pm, sharon is now calling me anti-social but the reason is its more comfy and i get tired more easily.
