29th October 2008....
After a spot of time away from the wheel, we are back on the tarmac. I have been whisked away on a trilogy of films and it's consumed most waking hours over the last three months. It means that recording is behind schedule - although what we have recorded sounds great - and that we had to pull out of some rather exciting gigs (including the Tiny Dancers support slot at The Brudanell). We have our next resident slot at Twilight Terror coming up - Saturday the 29th of November upstairs at The Library - we're all looking forward to that! So if you've not seen us in a while, this might be a good one for you!

31st August 2008....
Here’s a swift update to let you know what we’ve been up to!

We’re working with SoundPeople management with the aim of getting our new EP out to you. Recording is going well – we’re into layering up Gaz’s guitars at the moment and then it’s time to get vocal. We’re looking at March release date – that seem like ages away but it’ll be here soon enough and hopefully we’ll go out for a little tour too.

We’ve just had a string of well-received acoustic gigs - hello if you saw us at The Rodley Festival or the Chapel Allerton Arts festival – so we’re feeling pretty good! We’ll be looking to show the Hades video in BIG at the our Twilight Terror which is held at The Library on Saturday November 29th. That’s one not to miss. Before that we’re at The Brudanell Social Club in September on the 21st to support Sheffield’s Tiny Dancers (they’re on Parlophone y’know!).

Finally, I recently updated the MySpace page a bit including some new photos we took as an artistic experiment Joseph Cowin. That’s it right now, we’re busy so I’m happy.

Press Release for Hades:
You are invited to watch The Difference Between Love and Hades, the new video by Silverlode and Edel Doherty - a tale of love, tragedy and the seasons. It's short, abrasive and rather green! Ideal for summer, surely!?

Released on Today (04.08.08) at www.silverlodeonline.co.uk the video and audio of the title track, as well as a rather massive 'acoustic' version of Be Still by way of a b-side, are available free for download.

For added excitement, the film and audio were recorded simultaneously, live at Grain Division Studio Leeds 8th February 2008.

Silverlode are presently recording a new EP - due for release Winter 2008/9 -which is set to be our most ‘pop’ record to date!

Thank you all, see you in Hades.

July 2008....
We've spent two long hot days in the studio laying down drums for our new EP. With some hard graft on our part, it shall be released at the end of this year and featuring Hunting Eyes, Mr. Martin Pincher, A Glimpse of Lighting, I Am Cain and possibly The Golden Pathway - all of which are in our live sets).

Of course in the mean time, we put out the download only single Chillblind which you can buy for just 79p at iTunes and Napster, etc!

What's more is that we have a brand new web site to conincide with our latest video release which is for The Difference Between Love and Hades, which like Judas Squint, has been made with Edel Doherty at the wheel. You can download the audio track from the video and a b-side for free as for the 4th of August! See you soon.

Silverlode Biography - February 2008

Scott Silverlode - bass and vocals
Dave Drums - drums

Defining the music of Silverlode has lead to perplexion with many people. Previous attempts to do so have resulted in bizarre descriptions and wildly varying lists of bands, some familiar, some obscure but none accurate. If you ask the band they will delight in telling you that they play ‘Skiffle-Prog-Pop’ but what exactly is that? Essentially it is a quirky rampant mix of pop, folk, progressive rock, psychadelia and whimsy that creates the backdrop for the snatches of crooked stories, the dark nursery rhymes and the wicked tales of a skewed reality. More importantly it is something of their very own.

Taking to the stage, sometimes in black and silver make-up, the band have developed two styles of playing:- the alternative rock act with a full drum kit, electric lead guitar, electric bass and acoustic rhythm guitar on hand - and also the skiffley folky acoustic set which sees all four members sitting in a horseshoe with snare and tambourine, acoustic lead, acoustic rhythm and acoustic bass. With over 100 gigs during 2006 and 2007, including prestigious performances at the Leeds City Varieties, Leeds University and The Napton Festival, Silverlode have shared stages with the likes of Fields, Chris Stills, Clayhill, The Holloways, The Pigeon Detectives, Anechoic, Buen Chico, Girlschool and Danbert Nobacon of Chumbawamba fame.

Before consolidating the live line-up in 2005, the band took to life as a studio-based song-writing project in 2001, during which time they recorded two full-length demo albums:- the transient and haunting 'As It Always Has Been' (2003) and the bolder acoustic-rock of 'The Big Nothing' (2005). In 2007 they released their definitive opening statement for their Skiffle-Prog-Pop ethos, 'Ten Tales of Looming Darkness', a thirteen-track album that received very positive reviews. Silverlode have a healthy DIY ethic that sees them recording their own music, organising their own events, and even making their own promo videos.

You are most welcome to explore the world of Silverlode….
