Repton, Staffs 11th May 2003

A rain interrupted match was played at this splendid location over 36 overs.

The ebullient Steve Gaunt perished early after a quick fire 13. A patient 34 by Paul Taylor and 40 by skipper Ian Cross in a stand of 75 saw steady progress. Then after both departed James Lees was joined by Jon Smith who displayed his new found confidence and proceeded to outscore his more illustrious partner hitting 5 x 4s and 2 sixes and completing his maiden 50 not out off the last ball of the innings.

In reply 14 year old opener J Lamb scored an impressive 57 then in the 25^th over the wily Steve Bennett came on and struck with his first ball and in the 33^rd over he had two successive stumpings by Steve Gaunt. In an exciting finish Repton needing 3 runs to win off the last ball succumbed to a run-out attempting the second.  DCC being the winners by 2 runs.   Star Man - Jon Smith
