(No, not the Old Boys again...)
Hastily arranged due to Morton Colliery pulling out, we travelled to the back end of a junk yard to a nice little ground in Loughborough.
They looked a bit weak as we knocked up, so we batted and fiddled about a bit, as a slow start and some horse trading for batting positions in the sun resulted in a fairly average total of nearly 200. Smudge got 34 (first 50 for the club beckoning any week now) and Paul nearly carried his bat for an excellent 84. Crossy bludgeoned a few at the end, and was out trying to go from 48 to 52 on the last ball. Rob got his first n.o. for a donkey's age and we thought it would be easy to get them out.
How wrong we were. Some quality bats appeared at the crease and we were a little nonplussed by it all. The wickets didn't come easy and we chased some leather. A loss was beckoning until the vital wickets came late on, and we just about squeaked through. Highlights included Rob's first wicket of the year, 3-21 in a good spell by Dean, and 2-14 from Faizan, I'm still not sure which one he is, we'll have to get them labels. The warmth of the day contributed to the lacklustre performance and we'll have to do better the next time we go..
