Dorchester vs. Loughborough Carillon Old Boys CC

Loughborough, Leics 5th May  2002

First up this season, after a winter of anything but discontent to judge by the straining waistbands, were Loughborough Carillon OB.

It was always going to be a low scoring one, and so it proved. On a bright, breezy, bracing day we batted and put about 110 odd on the board, with only Smudger getting any serious runs, with a useful 26. Adam treated himself to a Golden, but I promised not to mention that.

After the Cake was over, LCOBCC struggled to find the middle with any degree of regularity and ended up about 50 short, with "Rambo" Stewardson continuing his point banditness in a DCC shirt by claiming 3 fer 8. Adam more than made up for earlier with a 3 fer too, conceding only 12. The standard of catching was, however, variable. Mick, Rob and Steve Gaunt all took very nice ones, but some easier ones went down too. Too much cake maybe?

Quick word for Jon Newton, a very nice debut indeed, very handy cricketer. More of him to come on these pages I'm sure.

DCC  112 all out odd
LCOBCC 54 all out in 33 overs (Adam 3-12, Mick Stewardson 3-8)
