DCC lost the toss and batted.
Weather : Wet. Then wetter.
Ashby is a nice little ground in the middle of town, but the weather conspired against us as a damp day dawned and never really looked like getting any better.
We had a good side out and bat was what we had to do, despite the conditions. A makeshift opening pair of Rob (bound to get a run or two soon) and Alec (average much too high due to excessive not outs) was assembled and proceeded to play very nicely for 14 over in drizzle before we came off as the drizzle intensified. 45-0 at that stage, both in their twenties (runs, obviously) and not much trouble at all, Rob driving well through the covers, and Alec very strong on anything short. Back out we went 20 minutes later, to a rapidly diminishing number of overs, and Rob was out first ball back to a leading edge and a good return catch. Batsmen came and went after that, and finally, after 30 overs, in the p%$sing rain, we called it a day.
Shame really.
