Flash game -- Cat box.

Stop the cat from leaving the screen, by clicking on the green dots, to form barricades. If the cat manages to escape, he wins and the game resets, if you manage to completely immobilize the cat, you win and the game resets.

Once you figure out the correct technique, you can beat the cat virtually every time, but he does still manage to sneak through occasionally.

Note: you will need Flash enabled in your browser and loading time should be less than 30 seconds on a 56K connection.

Online Flash game -- Flight of the Hamsters.

With a stirring sound track and cute animations, Flight of the Hamsters provides an entertaining five minute break.
Hamsters are launched into the air using hamster wheels and then catapulted forward with a pillow (well it could happen!). As the intrepid hamster soars through the air, he will encounter various items to help him stay aloft for as long as possible. He can maneuver slightly, by flapping his paws, but gets tired very quickly.

You control your hamster with the mouse button, one click launches him and a second click catapults him forward with the pillow. It takes a little bit of practice to get the timing right with the pillow and it's best to try and hit him on the way down, rather than the way up.
The game does rely on a lot of luck to get a good distance, the best I achieved with a single hamster was 229ft.

p.s Try letting your hamster hurtle vertically towards the ground, for a great panicking hamster animation.

Flash game -- Polar Jump.

In Polar Jump you must guide a squirrel (Doesn't look like a squirrel to me ) home, by jumping from iceberg to iceberg, jumping over animals, avoiding seagulls and collecting spearheads for extra points. Just to add to the fun, there is also a time bonus, so you need to complete the game as quickly as possible.

The game is made in Flash, so the graphics have the usual cartoon style, animation is limited to your squirrel and the icebergs, but the game is attractive.
There are some good sound effects, as your squirrel talks, although it is hard to know what he is saying. The music can be turned off, but for some reason this made the game jerky on my computer.

You control the power and direction of your jumps using the mouse, this works very well and after initially thinking "this is impossible", I soon got the hang of it.
The only problem I had with the gameplay, was when the icebergs were very close together, with an animal between, the squirrel would be deflected off the animal and into the sea, which was frustrating.

Polar Jump is quite an addictive little game and can be played either online (approx 4 minute download at 56k), or can be downloaded. (1.7Mb, does not require installing, just click and play)

Flash game -- Distraction.

Distraction is a very simple game, but with a twist.
You must steer your bird (?) with the mouse and collect the fruit for points, while avoiding the missiles and not leaving the game window.

But to make the game more difficult, various characters will appear outside the game window and attempt to distract you (hence the name). I wont tell you what they do, as that would spoil the game, but there is nothing inappropriate, it is a family friendly game.

The characters antics are quite disconcerting at first, but the game is on quite a short loop, so you get used to it after ten minutes or so, but it is an amusing idea.

Flash game -- Super Fishing.

Cast your fishing line and haul in as many fish as you can before the time expires. You gain more time by hauling in fish. You lose time for hauling in rubbish or being struck by lightning.

You can gain extra additional time by reeling in more than one fish at a time.
Keep moving from side to side, to avoid the thundercloud, staying still for too long ensures that you will be hit by lightening and lose a lot of time.

You can submit your score online at the end of the game, but you need a pretty high score to qualify, I thought I had done well, but was only ranked 625th!

Flash game -- Pendulumeca.

Pendulumeca is a simple, but addictive online Flash game. You control a robot, that you swing across the screen, above deadly spikes on the floor, the further you swing, the higher your score, but touch a spike and it's game over.

You control your swing by shooting a rope onto the blocks at the top of the screen, using the mouse for aiming and shooting and then when you think that your robot has reached the optimum point for release, you release the mouse button and the robot will (hopefully) fly forward. As your robot loses momentum you shoot another rope, to swing again.

The game is harder than it first appears and I have only reached level 3 so far (1171 metres). You can swing the robot above the top of the screen, but I found that I made better progress keeping it in view.

Overall a nifty little time waster, with a pretty good sound track.
