Note: These tools use Macromedia (now Adobe) Flash, which will need to be enabled in your browser. You can find the latest version of the free Flash Player here , if you do not want to install the Yahoo Toolbar at the same time, make sure you untick the box on the download page.


SWF Opener - Flash player.

If like me, you enjoy playing online Flash games, you will know that their main disadvantage is that playing them offline is tricky, they will rarely play using the browser history and searching your browser cache for the correct file to open the game manually is a pain.

SWF Opener solves both these problems, not only will it play Flash games for you, it will also search your browser cache for any Flash files, it then displays them as a list, showing each file as an image when highlighted.
Using the SWF Cache Opener is simple, the source folders of IE and Firefox are listed, but you can also set a custom folder, in my case Opera:
C:\Program Files\Opera\profile\cache4
Once you have found your game, you can then save it to the folder of your choice.

I found that the best display setting for the viewer was SA (Scale Mode: Show All), you can also set the background colour, which can be useful if the game does not display correctly.
You can associate your swf files with the program and the last five files you have viewed are listed in the file menu.
This is the best Flash player I have found so far, it will open 90% of games correctly and seems to very stable. It is easier and more reliable than dropping the files in your browser to open them.

Note: Some Flash games are designed not to be saveable, you can only play them online.

Flash convertor -- Swf-2-Exe.

This useful tool can convert Flash files (.swf) into standalone programs (.exe), that don't require a browser, or third party program to run. This can be useful if you wish to play the game offline, or send it to someone.
Swf-2-Exe can also convert a Flash exe, back into a swf file.
Operation is simple, just drag and drop the file you wish to convert, onto the program interface, or press the Convert button, to browse for a file.
