Panda Software free basic virus course.

Panda Software logo. You see reports of viruses, worms and trojans in the news almost daily, but if you don't really know what they are, or what to do about them, then this course is for you.
Run by the antivirus company Panda Software, it is a one to two hour course, consisting of twelve chapters, that covers just about all you need to know about viruses.
It is a free course, but you do need to register and fill in some details to gain access to it, you can also choose whether you wish to receive further information from the company.
After registering you can begin the course, you don't have to complete it in one go, you can come back to it later and it will remember where you got too.

The course itself is in Flash ( Or something similar. ) and is nicely animated, with easy to follow explanations and a test at the end of most chapters to see if you have understood correctly.
The information it gives you is quite comprehensive and you learn all about the different types of malicious programs, how to spot them and what to do once you have spotted them, what features you need to look for in an antivirus program and how to minimize the risk to your computer.

During the course you are given the chance to test your current antivirus program ( If you have one. ) with the EICAR test virus. I'm pleased to say my antivirus software detected it straight away. ( Well done AVG. )
Overall I think this is an excellent introduction to viruses and Panda Software should be commended for remaining impartial and not turning the course into a vehicle for product adverts, the only failing of the course in my opinion is that there is no mention of firewalls, surely a must in protecting your system.
