The Landmark Trust

"Roslyn Castle"
Roslyn Castle taken from the river bank.
Probably the only building I've been in which had a three storey dungeon.
"Chateau"
The nearest landmark to home: the Chateau, Gainsborough.
"Brinkburn Mill"
The normal veiw.
The tide in? Actually the river was in flood, you can see from leaves how high it had got during the night (which we spent in a pub).
"Lynch Lodge"
This accommodation for two we always remember as it has a kitchen in an alcove
"Bromfield Priory Gatehouse"
Our home for a week in March 2001, sadly at the height of the foot and mouth outbreak, everywhere was closed off. We managed to get the dog a walk off his lead .... by driving across Wales to Aberystwyth!
"Appleton Water Tower"
We've only been to see this landmark: it's always booked when we want to go.
"Houghton West Lodge"
Seen on the same day as the one above as they were so near.
"Shute Gatehouse"
Our dog accompanied me across the lawn to take this photo at the end of June 2001. We occupied the central tower but there is a bunk room in the far tower.
"Old Place of Monrieth"
One of my favourite Landmarks, I had always fancied this place from my first seeing the handbook, it didn't disappoint.
"Lock Cottage"
Towards the bottom of the Tardebigge flight on the Worcester & Birmingham Canal is lock cottage.
"Tixall Gatehouse"
Taken from the towpath of the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal towpath at Tixall Wide. During November the view from the roof of the firework display at Shugborough Hall is brilliant.
 "Hole Cottage"
March 2003.
"Laughton Place"
Taken whilst staying at Hole Cottage.
"Alton Station"
990725-0714-46.jpg (550635 bytes) A landmark property, close to Alton Towers closed in the 1960's as a railway station. Even then it's main function was the leisure industry: day-trippers to Alton Towers.
The station masters house at Alton, one of the log entries is from a past station master who wrote a great article on the activities at the station in years gone by.
People walked straight out of the station and into Alton Towers through this gateway. On their way home there were so many people that had to be held in 'pens' until the correct train was in the station.
The main accommodation at Alton Station, although you have everything on the platform to yourself, an ideal location for a barbeque.
"Wilmington Priory"
Wilmington also taken whilst staying at Hole Cottage.
"Maesyronen Chapel"
July 1998.
"Tangy"
Tangy burn runs past Tangy Mill.
An overshot wheel at Tangy Mill.
"Bath Tower"
Caernarfon, Wales. The middle tower is the Bath Tower.
