Please note we no longer accept
models under the age of 16. At Studio-twenty4 we pride ourselves on our model management skills. Unlike many modelling agencies out there we charge no up front fees to register with us. We supply models to some of the biggest names on the high street. So if your thinking of trying to break into the tough world of modelling make sure you call Studio-twenty4 first for an informal discussion and arrange a free test shoot. Please note we accept models both male and female from the age of 16yrs+. All applicants must meet our current market demand, please do not be offended if we do not offer you a place on the Studio-twenty4 model register, we are very honest in what we do and with every model we do accept we make a large financial investment without taking any payment from the model, we feel this is the most ethical way to do business. We only make money if the model makes money so we only accept models who we strongly believe are marketable. Unlike other studios who offer model management facilities we don't insist that you have your portfolio shoot at Studio-twenty4, the choice is yours however all images submitted must be of a very high standard and with copyright permissions from the original photographer for us to submit your composite card to potential clients. Many agencies will say anything to sign you up and in the process charge you anywhere between £100 - £350 for the pleasure with many saying that they will promise to find you work as a model, the cold hard fact is there are no guarantees in the modelling business, the final decision is always with the client or what we call in the industry "The Shopper" and it is very much a buyers market with hundreds of thousands of faces out there all trying to make it in the world of modelling. The modelling world is rife with scam agencies many of which set up in hotels around the country for what is better known as a "Recruitment Drive" or as we like to call it "A SCAM". Please be very careful when selecting an agency and never hand any money over without first checking out the reputation of the agency in question. We do not work as a lead agency into other agencies, this is much like a pyramid scheme, some smaller agencies will take a small fee from you and then submit your details to larger agencies who will then in turn write to you offering you a 3 year contract in exchange for around £250-£500 of your hard earned cash, many people get drawn in by the flattery of it all and once you submit your £250 or sometimes more they will sell on your details to another rogue agency who will then write to you explaining that if you send them £250 your chances of finding work will greatly increase, so before you know what day it is your £500-£1000 down and not a thing to show for it. PLEASE TAKE CARE. Here are some frequently asked questions we receive everyday: Q: Will I definitely be accepted on your register once I have had a test shoot? A: In a word NO. Acceptance on to the Studio-twenty4 model register is not just about looking good, the test shoot enables us to see how you perform in front of the lens and allows us to evaluate what kind of person you are like to work with, so if you come to a test shoot treat it much like a job interview, we use a tick box system for all our applicants, personality will play a huge part in being accepted. Q: Will it cost me anything to be on the register? A: At studio-twenty4 we take no fee for registering you as a model, we take no fee for the test shoot. There is a small fee if you require us to shoot a model portfolio for you but this fee covers the costs of our in house stylists (Hair & Make up) and our award winning fashion photographers time. Q: Do I have to have my portfolio done with studio-twenty4 and if so how much will it cost? A: No, we do not pressure you into having your portfolio done with studio-twenty4 at all, providing you have an existing portfolio of very high quality work on a photo CD with copyright permissions from the original photographer we can use that to assist in your promotion as a model. Our current rate for a full portfolio shoot which includes hair & make up and 3 hour photo session is set at £250.00, you will also receive a photo CD containing all the images from the shoot usually between 75 -120 images fully edited in a portfolio presentation case. For models under the age of 16 this fee is reduced to £150.00. We also give you the licence to use your studio-2wenty4 images with other agencies to assist in your quest for modelling work. Q: If I decide to join the studio-twenty4 register can I still register with other agencies? A: Yes we do not hold you exclusively to studio-twenty4, you are free to sign with other agencies to find work. Q: If you find modelling work for me how much can I expect to earn and how much do you earn from me? A: The pay varies from each assignment so a definite figure is hard to give, for example if we charged out one of our 18yrs+ models out at around £100 per hour (min 2hrs) which we take a commission of 25% of the entire assignment fee, so for example if an assignment was offered to you for 2 hours photographic modelling at £200 we take £50 which is 25% you will receive £150.00. Q: Will I be responsible for income tax or national insurance on any earnings? A: The model is responsible for their own tax and national insurance contributions we do not employ you so therefore we are not responsible for these taxes. Please contact your local HM Revenue & Customs service for further information regarding self employment or visit www.hmrc.gov.uk Q: Do you guarantee to find me modelling work? A: NO. In this business no one can make you that promise, however we do actively seek work on your behalf, because our photography department shoots for many national and international retailers and other business we feel we are very well connected to the right industry professionals. Q: I am interested in my child becoming a model, do I need a special permit because they are under 16? A: All child models under the age of sixteen are required by law to hold a Child Performance licence for any paid undertaking of work. The licence can be obtained from your local or county council.
