Concept Judo

ConceptJudo was developed by myself Neil Eckersley, Double Olympian, Olympic medallist. The aim of the project was to introduce the sport of Judo to young people.  The project was piloted within an area of Cumbria. The Project was a huge success and my focused teaching sessions were a huge influence on the young people within the local community.

A variety of Judo sessions can be adapted to fit your needs for example pre-school Judo sessions start at 8.00am which
provides a stimulant to the start of the day. Lunchtime Judo
sessions which can be taken before or after lunch and last  30 minutes. After school Judo which is a 45 minute session
immediately after school. All equipment such as Judo mats and Judo kits are provided. We are able to take a maximum of 20
students per class.

ConceptJudo covers many aspects of the Key stage  1 & 2 PE objectives. Judo is very much a sport rather than a martial art in that it does not involve any kicking or punching. ConceptJUDO is an ideal form of physical exercise that benefits general health, physical conditioning, concentration, co-ordination and
self-discipline tolerance towards others.

ConceptJUDO is also in line with the Every Child Matters Agenda. The sessions will cover the basics and fundamental principles of the sport of Judo. Within the sessions there will be a strong emphasis on discipline, self-control and the respect of others that are involved within the programme.

ConceptJudo is an ideal sport for all ages, males or females. Confidence and self-esteem are enhanced as a player
progresses through the ranks and the very nature of the grading system ensures that the next goal is always realistic and
achievable with effort. The grading system also ensures that
regardless of their skill level all Judo players can actively
compete with players of similar ability and hence they have a
realistic chance of emerging victorious.
