* * * * Star Award

Ripsaw was Alton Towers' major new attraction for 1997 and was introduced as a substitute for the Thunder Looper and the Beast in Forbidden Valley.

Ripsaw is known as a Top Spin but what makes Ripsaw different from the Top Spins you will find in your local fair is not just the good theming but the added element of water. This is 35 computer controlled variable height fountains.

As you are rotated and twisted in the gondola you are teased by fountains of water that shoot from a pool in front of the ride. Of course eventually, when you think you have escaped a soaking you are hurtled through the full force of the water. Or if you are lucky your sequence will involve the fountains being squirted directly in your face as you hang down.
