This section of Ride Guide UK gives you all the rumours and news from the Theme Parks here in the UK.

RG|UK|altontowers

There are a number of recent rumours surrounding this park at the moment.

CONFIRMED

2001 will see a new thrill ride added to X-Sector. It will replace the Energizer and will be a Chance Double Inverter. The Energizer will move to Ug Land and the Dino Dancers will move to Forbidden Valley.

LATEST RUMOURS

2002 will see the construction of a world first rollercoaster in Forbidden Valley codenamed SW5. It will be built by B&M [Nemesis + Oblivion] and will be only the second flying coaster in the world, the other is built by Vekoma and is called Stealth. However SW5 is rumoured to have a launched lift hill and will have 2 stations for simultaneous loading, to shorten queues.

OLD RUMOURS

A Wooden Rollercoaster to be built on the site of the New Beast in Forbidden Valley near Ripsaw and Nemesis. Prior to the woodie, which will be known as Project Zool it is rumoured an ArrowBATic coaster will be added in 2001. This is an inverted mouse coaster that would be suitablef or all the family.

In contrast it has also been said that Project Zool will cover the Black Hole site and the Hospitality area with the Black Hole being moved to the New Beast site without the tent. I doubt this rumour as it would mean the two newest coasters in the same area, X-Sector which would result in serious crowd distribution problems.

The Log Flume is rumoured to be getting a complete facelift with either new theming and replacement of worn channels or perhaps a completely re-routed Log Flume with a higher capacity and more thrills to try to elevate Alton Towers to the level of Water Rides found in Thorpe Park and Drayton Manor.

The 3D Cinema situated in Merrie England is set to be altered and a 5D cinema introduced which would involve not only a 3D film, but effects and live actors. This is rumoured to be SW5 (Secret Weapon 5), the codename for major new attractions at Alton Towers.

Thorpe Park

CONFIRMED

Thorpe Park will introduce a massive coaster for 2002. It is likely to be built by Intamin and will be approximately 30 metres high. It is also known that it will have an immense 10 inversions, a world record.

LATEST RUMOURS

Next Season (2001) will see the introduction of a new Thrill Ride and a replacement for the Wicked Witches Haunt which was destroyed by fire earlier this year.

Chessington World of Adventures

It is rumoured that the racing kiddie coasters that were denied permission to be situated in Beano Land (the new area for 2000) will in fact be built after all but at a later date, either for 2001 or 2002.

American Adventure

It was rumoured that American Adventure were to buy the Texas Tornado from the now closed Fronteir Land at Morecombe. However due to restraints on space and demand it is unlikely that this will go through.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach

It is rumoured that Blackpool Pleasure Beach will get a much needed looping coaster, either in the form of a steel twister, rumoured as a perhaps LIM Launch or in the for of an Inverted. The rumoured designers are Vekoma or Intamin, surprisingly no B&M, the Swiss company generally regarded as the masters of this type of rollercoaster. Where it will fit in at the park is another question all together.

Drayton Manor

CONFIRMED

Drayton Manor have postponed the construciton of a hotel, they have planning permission up untill 2006. Instead the park are concentrating on improving attractions within the park.
