Proud Winners of the |
* * * Star Award The Missile is the stunning Reverse Incline Shuttle launch at American Adventure. This basically means that the coaster is not a complete circle and is pulled up a steep hill backwards at the beginning before being released and reaching the other end before doing it all again backwards. The Missile follows what is known as a Boomerang layout. This involves the rollercoaster doubling back on itself. After being pulled up the steep incline by a bogey attatched to the bag of the train you are released and fly through the station and enter a half loop. You then half corkscrew right the half corkscrew right again before going down another half loop. You then enter a vertical loop before entering another steep incline where a pull chain helps you up the hill before releasing you to go through the ride again in reverse. The Missile is situated in the NASA area of the park and is mildly themed to suit. It is blue and can be seen from the other side of the lake at American Adventure. The ride turns you upside down 6 times because the number of inversions is doubled when you return in reverse. The fact that half the ride is backwards adds another dimension to the ride and gives even greater thrills. However this ride is rather bumpy and I would suggest that you make an effort to keep your head still as if you loosen your neck muscles you head will get smashed againts the shoulder restraints, other than this it is an immense ride.
