* * Star Award The Energizer was first opened in 1995 in the now extinct area of the park Festival Park. It moved to the new area X-Sector in 1998 where it recieved a new futuristic coat of paint to remove the hideous red and yellow of the original design. Back in Festival Park this ride seemed to have a little more kick to it but I think Alton Towers have tried to broaden its riders by making it less intense. After boarding the gondola an automatic lap restraint comes down. The arms of the ride then swing the gondola round often at a stragne angle and the gondola itself swings from side to side. This can give the illusion of you smashing againts the ride base if you sit at the side and bakc in Festival Park it swung close to trees. Click the image below to see the Energizer fully.
