Other Local Community Groups - Looking after the Village of Stockton Heath

The Local Stockton Heath Community Group called SHARC (Stockton Heath Alternative Residents Council) has been formed by a number of people from Walton/Stockton Heath/Appleton and is looking at a number of issues that we have in the village, including preserving its distinct "Village Status". They are also looking at local problems such as Speeding, Pollution, Parking and Buildings, which they believe our Parish Council should be doing but are not!

A member of SHARC - PATRICK MULLEE is now standing as councillor in the MAY 3rd Elections

STOCKTON HEATH ALTERNATIVE

RESIDENTS COUNCIL

We are a group of local residents from Stockton Heath, Walton and Appleton, who have come together to offer residents of this part of South Warrington an alternative to the current ineffective local representation offered by the Stockton Heath Parish Council.

The Parish Council, claim to be “powerless” to help residents gain representation at Borough Council level! Your voice goes unheard on local issues, and your representatives on the Parish Council appear to operate with the interests of local party politics as their prime directive. The interests of the party groups seem to take precedence over the needs and concerns of you: -

‘The silent majority’

We intend to hold meetings, open to the public, where you can come and talk to us to raise your concerns on local issues. On our part, we will endeavour to lobby local councillors and other council officers to get appropriate recognition or resolution for your concerns. As has been seen so far with recent issues of area wide concern, the Council does not heed the wishes of the majority and fails to recognise your representatives. Why do they exist, what added value does this tier of government provide you as a taxpayer?

We want to start to tackle some of these thorny issues, the character and future of the village is at stake, we need your support to change things. We have shown that with organisation and support we can influence decisions, we have won first blood over the school, and we have recovered the Forge machinery. Let’s keep Stockton Heath for the residents, and ensure that those who visit us, and those who want to ride roughshod over our wishes, start to respect the village.

Our Mission Statement

“The aim of Stockton Heath Alternative is to help create, maintain and improve the Village and maintain a sustainable village community for its’ residents.”

THE OBJECTIVES OF SHARC

We will

  1. Listen to the concerns of our residents and act in good faith on their behalf.
  2. Be open and transparent to all about our group and our objectives
  3. Promote the Group within the local community, encouraging those disillusioned with current local politics and false promises.
  4. Ensure a duty of care is given to all Stockton Heath residents.
  5. Work with, and give respect and consideration to, all persons who hold positions of authority such as Council Officers, Town, Borough & County Councillors and the Police.
  6. Actively promote good community relations amongst all Stockton Heath residents.
  7. Assist the residents of Stockton Heath by becoming a link between them and the authorities when they wish to keep their confidentiality.
  8. Provide candidates to run for public office at local elections on a non-party/independent platform, who’s manifesto will follow the objectives of SHARC, we intend to target primarily those seats up for re-election next year.
