'Unfortunately we were unable to apply for the status of a 'Registered Charity'.
The Charity Commission have advised us that '...the object of a charitable organisation must be exclusively charitable and 'fundraising' is not classed as a charitable object in itself, it is simply an activity which can be undertaken to help achieve a charitable purpose.'
As part of our stated objectives include that of fundraising towards a refurbishment and possible legal challenge we are not eligible for Registered Charity Status.
As we are aware 4.3 million of government funding is already available, however as the Council have stated this is not enough to allow the refurbishment of the school.
We do intend to raise enough money to make it possible for a refurbishment in line with DfES Criteria to go ahead for the long term benefit of our children and our Community!
As the original School was partly funded by the local people of Stockton Heath 98 years ago we ask the community of Stockton Heath to support again.
We are also looking for corporate sponsorship and donations from Local and National Businesses
We also need assistance from Planning Lawyers to fight the Council's decision to again apply for planning permission to demolish the school, which is against its own Unitary Development Plan and Policies
How Is the Money going to be used you ask?
Well our Group has the following objectives to cover how we are going to use the money!
- The Primary objective is to raise one million pounds to ensure that "Stockton Heath Primary School" is Refurbished to the DfES criteria and a 21st century Learning Environment. The funds raised would be added to the existing allocated funds to ensure that a viable refurbishment can be achieved.
- The funds raised will also be used to pay for the legal representation, to challenge Warrington Borough Council’s decision to pursue demolition of Stockton Heath Primary School.
- If the Group is unsuccessful in achieving objectives (1) &(2) then the remaining available funds will go to the “Stockton Heath Primary School Children ” to enhance their Educational Environment, to work towards a full 21st Century Learning Environment.
