I decided quite a while ago that I knew nothing about cars, and decided the best way to learn would be to "get stuck in" ! Since Byrney and most of my mates were into minis it seemed the obvious choice - they're relatively simple, and there was lots of help on hand ! I had quite a liking for the slightly bigger Clubman Estates, but didn't want to spend a load of money on one that was already in decent condition (unless a real bargain came up!) - so I went hunting and ended up with a nasty brown coloured 1980 clubman estate with a LOT of rust. I also then saw a mini with a 1600cc Honda VTEC engine and though "Blimey - I want one"
Hence my first ever attempt to do some work on a car became a project to restore a rusty old mini, and fit a non-mini engine. I then bought the slightly larger 1800cc B18C4 Honda VTEC engine and got to work !
Some basic details are....
1797cc DOHC Honda VTec engine - expected to be around 200bhp when finished
4 x 40mm Jenvey throttle bodies on home made custom inlet manifold
Lightened flywheel and alloy underdrive crank pulley
Home made engine management system using a modified ECU based on Megasquirt http://www.msefi.com
Modified Rover Metro GTI front subframe
MGTF Rear subframe
Coilover suspension all round and front and rear anti roll bars
