Bringing together a plunderphonic
ensemble of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, How To Lose a Guy in 10
Days and reams of publicity photographs, Undo Unlove is a parasitic
recycling engine generating an environment where aspirational images
and sensorial affect converge to produce a zone of deferred expectation
mixed with associative ambience - a simultaneously banal and intense
experiential space.
Decomposing and recomposing appropriated material in a process of
obsessional micro-editting and bargain basement pseudo-stalker aesthetics,
Undo Unlove is a modular work that foregrounds the nature of a cultural
representation where identity and difference are ironed out through
serial repetition. Combining contemporary romantic comedy with cult
indie horror to a backdrop of an ever-smiling facial wallpaper,
Undo Unlove attempts to tease out disruptive relationships between
humour, terror, frustration and objectification. Liv Tyler, Denise
Richards, Kate Hudson and Rose McGowan are all scheduled to make
an appearance, alongside lesser known Teri Meminn, in an installation
that will tease and refuse to satisfy, promising only a psychedelic
play of inverted signal and response.
